Bali in Indonesia has built its reputation on watersports rented by the hour right off the sand and fresh seafood eaten within sight of the boats that caught it — the kind of place that rewards slowing down rather than rushing between sights. Rice terraces, surf beaches, and temples at every turn.
Flights land at DPS airport, and the pace on the ground is generally easygoing — expect the day to be built around the beach, with everything else fitted in around it. Bali is well suited to both a short week away and a longer, slower two-week stay.
