The coastline does most of the talking here — limestone stacks, hidden coves reachable only by boat or a scramble down a cliff path, and beach bars that stay low-key even in August. Inland, the golf courses around Vilamoura are some of the best-regarded in Europe.
Faro airport puts you within 30–45 minutes of most resort areas, making this one of the easier package destinations for a short break. Shoulder season (May, late September) is a good bet for warm sea temperatures without peak crowds.
