Antigua in Antigua and Barbuda has built its reputation on markets that spring up in the old town squares and day trips inland to villages that see far fewer visitors — the kind of place that rewards slowing down rather than rushing between sights. Reputedly a beach for every day of the year.

Flights land at ANU airport, and the pace on the ground is generally low-key — expect the day to be built around the beach, with everything else fitted in around it. Antigua is well suited to both a short week away and a longer, slower two-week stay.
